Nicole’s story began at 19 when she had her first child, followed by her second a year later. She was happy but her marriage ended after two years, leaving her a single mother of two toddlers. She felt that her once-perfect life was falling apart, and she drifted away from God, making decisions that negatively impacted her.
Seeking more from life, Nicole returned to church and gradually rebuilt her faith. On a mission trip, she met a man, and they became a couple, believing her relationship was part of God’s plan.
On a mission trip, she met a man, and they became a couple, believing her relationship was part of God’s plan. He was great with her children, and they were happy, for a while.
However, over time, Nicole began to see her boyfriend’s true nature, which resulted in arguments. She later discovered he had been arrested for first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Despite having doubts, she stood by him.
When Nicole discovered she was pregnant with her boyfriend’s child, she encountered even more challenges. He was legally barred from being around anyone under 12 and the solid connection Nicole thought she once had deteriorated. Choosing to protect her children from this man, she ended the relationship.
Determined to move forward, Nicole joined Hope Unexpected’s program for single mothers. Through this program, she received free professional counseling, which helped her navigate the challenging situation she was facing. For the first time, she felt understood and supported. With the support of Faith Conversation Leaders, volunteers, staff, and fellow single mothers, Nicole felt empowered and was finally able to focus on her relationship with God and her children.
